Solve Your Design Woes With Custom Picture Frames

Why would you want custom picture frames?

Some reasons for a custom picture frame would include an off-size portrait or poster. If you have something that you cannot find a stock frame for, then you will probably have to order a custom size frame.  The standard frames you can find in stores seem to be 5×7 and 8 x 10.  Once in awhile you will be able to go to a craft shop to find a little more variety. However, these are usually unfinished.  That can be a good thing, if you like to put your own touches on it.

If you have an extra thick media or canvas, then you also may find the need for a special size frame.  You would need something with a thick edge on it to cover the whole piece. Sometimes people just cannot find what they are looking for among stock frames that you would pick up at a department store.  Most department stores have a standard black, brown, or brushed metal frame.  Maybe you want a navy blue frame for your latest art treasure. Or perhaps you want an antique finish.  The sky’s the limit when you get a custom frame.

Custom picture frames can have custom hangers. Have you ever hung a piece that is very heavy?  With standard frames, at times I thought the frame was going to fall apart.  Eventually, one of my frames did start to bow as the weight was pulling on the frame and I only had one sawtooth hanger on a large frame.  I should have replaced that with two hangers, or put a hanging cable on it.  But I was just too lazy.  When that frame finally looked too horrible, I ordered a custom frame online.  I made sure it could handle what I was dishing out.

If you live in a big city, it should be easy for you to go into a local framing or art shop and have them custom order a frame for you.  Usually, you pick everything out and they order it for you. Of course, this comes at a markup for you.  You can save a lot of money by ordering online.  Some companies will even ship your frame in pieces, if you know how to put it together.  This will save you a little on shipping.  

Of course, you can always shop around online and find someone that offers free shipping too.  Whatever method you choose to acquire your frame, you can be assured that it is very easy these days to get custom picture frames.
